Wildlife in Yosemite Park

Wildlife in Yosemite Park

Animal life in Yosemite park can make your travel to Yosemite a breathtaking experience. Make sure to bring your binoculars and camera. If you keep your eyes open, you'll find black-tailed deer near open meadows, ground squirrel in the summer, grey squirrels in the winter and marmots, which are large golden brown colored rodents. On the wild side, you'll site bears, coyotes, and mountain lions.

Among birds in Yosemite Park, look out for the Red-Tailed Hawk, Dark-Eyed Junco (black-capped head sparrow with two white tail feathers) the Great Grey Owl, as well as the once-endangered Peregrine falcon — the fastest bird-of-prey in the the world — nesting on the cliffs of the Yosemite Valley. On the more dangerous side, beware of poisonous rattlesnakes and give them plenty of space.

As you watch for wildlife in Yosemite Park, you're bound to appreciate the wonder of nature.
